Getting Started

Choose a work area with adequate space and lighting. Cover the floor with a drop cloth. Use a drawing board at least two feet wide, eighteen inches high and one half inch thick. Be sure the drawing board is very smooth. Lumps on the board instantly appear when drawing over them. The drawing board must not move or shake. A practice board can be made by bolting smooth plywood to a wall. The chalk tray should be three inches deep and two feet wide. Place it six inches lower than the board to allow room to draw. Without the proper paper results will not be possible. The drawing paper canvas from our suppliers list works best. Mount the paper securely with the rough side out. Place 2 extra sheets under the paper as a pad. Use lecturers chalk from the suppliers in the appendix. Other chalks may be difficult to work with because of size or hardness.
