Barry began to develop his unique artistic gifts with illustrations
in ink for church bulletin
covers for several years. He met chalk artist, Mary Doescher, in Rapid City, South Dakota in 1982. She gave him his first Light
hood for the easel he uses today. Gary Means completed his training to produce a unique style of
drawing.
Two years ago, Barry traveled with companions to a church plant in Constansa Romania,
where for 4 days they presented the Easter Week services. The drawings cut through language and cultural barriers to attract many
people.
Barry participated in an Easter event for a large church
in Denver. Several chalk artists presented drawings on the theme of the ministry of Jesus. Barry drew the " Sea Of Galilee”.
Barry’s easel is homemade, constructed out of hospital curtain rods. The light bank has 10 bulbs in 4 colors. The black light is 4 feet long. Barry is full of
ideas. In his own words, “This will continue to be a major love of
my life for years to come, or until the Lord takes me home.”
