Preparation

Dynamic, life changing programs are no accident. They are the result of prayerful planning, inspirational research, thoughtful organization and skillful execution.

I asked a successful speaker, "How long did you take to prepare that program?" His answer shocked me when he said, "36 years!"

You can’t expect a $10,000 response to a 10 cent presentation. Some themes demand from 40 - 200 hours of preparation. That's because, preparing to change a life takes longer than preparing for a few spectators to be entertained. Movie budgets often exceed 60 million dollars and years of effort. Is our purpose and message worth less than theirs?

There is no substitute for hard work, but it is not how hard you try, but ho long you try that often brings success. An ancient writer said it best, "A dream comes from a multitude of business"

The temptation in preparation is to say, "Not many people will see my program. I’m not drawing for 1000." If you present only one program a week for 20 people, in a year, 1040 people will see it! Don’t let that scare you. Let it sober you to take preparation seriously, even if you draw for 20 people. Don't for a group of 20. Prepare your drawings as if they were to be seen by 1000 people. Give your best and God will give you His best.
