Set-up
Set-up from case to drawing is about 5 minutes for the average person. The first time through it usually takes a little longer. Some report average set-up time as 2 minutes!

Lighting
Standard incandescent light bulbs used in most chalk art light hoods are very inefficient, producing only 10-20 lumens per watt. About 90% of the energy it consumes is given off as heat, while only 10% is converted into light. Halogen lamps are about 10% more efficient. They emit a whiter more balanced light than standard incandescents, making them a good choice for illuminating work requiring high visual acuity or where color rendition is important, such as lighting works of art. Halogens lose less than 10% of their brightness over their lifetimes, compared to 25% for standard incandescence.
Never operate the light hood with the lid closed.  Lamps need air to cool. Excessive heat or lack of ventilation will cause premature lamp failure. Always allow a suitable air flow to bulbs.  Do not leave the colored lights on more than 4 minutes at a time. As a safety feature the colored bulbs omit a strong smell if overheated. They are designed to 'melt away' or drip downward from the bulb in this case. Custom hand dipped replacement bulbs are available in most colors for $9.95 each.

Blacklight
The black light tube is a FBS25BLB 33 watt permanent fixture. It is almost twice as bright as throw-away bulbs in it's mirrored fixture. It has a permanent lightweight fixture that is safer and more rugged and just as bright as two 40 watt throw-away bulbs!

Operation:
Allow 5 seconds for the black light to turn on. Wait 5 seconds for cool down and reset before restarting black light. This black light is very sensitive to heat. Operating this light in environments with high temperatures or limited ventilation may cause premature bulb failure. Use a clip on fan if necessary. Do not block the rear vents.
